Artist Statement

Why do I make art?
I paint and draw because I love it. It keeps me sane and engaged with the world. It is a very visceral experience for me. I find it almost spiritual. Terrific things occur when I am able to lose myself in the process of making art.
What do I try to achieve with my art?
I'm really not sure. I just love to paint. I paint the things that I find beautiful. Odds and ends that I love. Objects that fascinated me as a child. Things that I am connected to. I try to paint beautiful and intriguing images of the stuff around me.
Why watercolor?
I find it to be a true partner. I’ve discovered when I accept its influence, some very wonderful things can happen. It has taught me control is not always a good thing. Like life, I have learned to accept what it will give me and move on.
What do I want the viewer to experience?
I hope my work touches them in some small way. I hope they can feel the passion I put into my work. And as a result, maybe look a little closer at the world around them.
